The Cookie Monster isn’t iconic simply because he is character on a children’s show, he’s iconic because he resonates with all of us. He saw cookies and NOM, NOM, NOMmed them down. Truth be told, many of us want to do the same thing. The only distinguishing factor between us becoming like the Cookie Monster is perhaps judicious thought and the prospect that we wouldn’t be as cute were we a furry, chubby blue critter.
