Tart Orange (or Lemon) Poundcake **

As a kid, I remember going to the mall and begging my parents to get me an Orange Julius® - you know those drinks that tasted like a Creamsicle®? I loved them, and thus, I love this cake… it tastes like a Creamsicle®, but in cake form.

This pound cake is dense and moist, sweet and tart. The sugar topping is a sweet-tart flavor sensation that takes this cake from ordinary to exciting orange (or lemon) bliss. See those sides? That’s called sugar caramelization; it’s crunch takes the textural experience of this cake to a whole other crazy level.
