The Church Lady Cake **

from $26.00

There’s always a story, isn’t there?

Chronology: Years ago, a good friend of mine went to a church potluck. She ate a lemon cake for dessert made by a sweet older lady at her church. She fell in love with said cake made by sweet older lady at her church. She asked sweet older woman for cake recipe. Sweet older woman gave her cake recipe. She made it. I tried it. I begged her for recipe.

This cake, henceforth, came known as The Church Lady Cake.

Made with a freakish amount of eggs and sour cream ( I personally like to call this healthy, as I am getting my daily dose of protein-rich dairy), and then drenched in lemonade (aka fruit intake), this cake was so dense and moist, and it made your mouth pucker in the best of ways from how tart the lemonade was.

In short, it was pure divinity in cake form. The problem for a scratch baker like me is that this cake is made from a boxed lemon cake mix. In good conscience, I couldn’t sell this cake as a part of my bakery, no matter how deliciously wonderful that doctored box cake mix is.

When I set out to create The Church Lady Cake from scratch, I had to mix and match some recipes to get the pucker and the dense, moist deliciousness inherent in the original cake, and you betcha I nailed it!

This scratch form of The Church Lady Cake is pure lemon divinity in cake form.

This intensely lemony, dense, moist, super delicious, über pucker-worthy cake comes in two forms: 1 large Bundt cake or 12 ADORABLE mini Bundts. It can also come with a gorgeous icing that just takes the cake over the top! But trust me when I tell you, the naked cake (sans glaze) is ridiculously amazing!

Makes: 1 large Bundt cake (feeds approx. 12) or 12 mini Bundts. Half mini Bundt order available (6 mini Bundts)

Allergens: milk, eggs, wheat, nuts (almonds)

Available for nationwide shipping (without icing), local delivery, or pickup.
