Blood Orange Scones **(see note)
Blood Oranges are perhaps my favorite citrus. It’s seductive, alluring color holds secrets in its flavor: the notes comes across your palate as almost berry and floral.
This scone is only available from January to early April when blood oranges are at their peak.
Good scones should stand alone, but this one is just made better when drenched in a thick icing sweetened with the blood orange syrup from the homemade candied blood oranges. And the color of the syrup will vary (as you can see in the images) depending on the oranges.
These are almost too pretty to eat, but please never let that stop you from enjoying something this sumptuous.
