Nan's Tomato Flip **
$9.00

Actual comments about Nan’s Tomato Flip:

“Oh my goooddd, that tomato jam on a mushroom Swiss burger, soooo good!”

“I feel like I need to hide it from my family and ration it because it’s so good.”

“Can I buy this by the case?” [the answer would be yes]

“Honestly, I eat it by the spoonful, but yes, it’s very nice on cheese and crackers.”

After proclaiming to be an avid tomato hater, one client texted me the following day saying, “I need another jar because I ate half the jar the night before with just a spoon.”

Trust me, so many people tell me repeatedly they can’t get past just eating it out of the jar with a spoon. Of this, I, too, am guilty.

The above quotes are from people who swoon over Tomato Flip. In a jar, it just looks “normal,” but this might be the most special thing I make.

Meet Nan’s Tomato Flip. The name isn’t one I necessarily gave it, but rather one honoring the woman who gave the recipe to me - my husband’s late maternal grandmother. It would be considered an heirloom recipe.

Think of a loose set tomato jam spiced with warm, sweet spices.

If you’ve had this, you know it’s converted non-tomato lovers. You know it’s stunning with any type of cheese and crackers, elevating your charcuterie board to heavenly heights. You know it adds depth and layers of flavor to any sandwich. It’s been deliciously added to eggs, meat and potatoes…anything your heart desires, it makes even better. Or take it from several people who do it, it’s damned delicious just by the spoonful.

If you’ve had this, you know you’re willing to do whatever it takes to get more because it’s that special.

An 8oz jar is perhaps the best $9 you will ever spend. And I promise you, you’ll come back for more.

There are pictures of Margaret Karp included in this writeup, aka Nan, the woman who inspired this creation. This - she - is the legacy I share with you when I share my Tomato Flip. She was a phenomenal woman who did so many things in her life, but I simply knew her as a loving woman who adored being surrounded by her family and friends. A woman who derived absolute joy from all the babies in our family who surrounded her. When I share the joy of Tomato Flip with you, I share with you a piece of history of an incredible woman. It’s my honor to make this jam every year and remember so many wonderful moments of family and laughter.

I hope when you enjoy this jam, you’re making your own amazing memories.

Great things come in small packages, and this is no exception. If you’ve never had this, click on the title and read the full description. If you have indulged in this sublime treat, make sure to grab several jars for hostess gifts and your charcuterie board this Thanksgiving!

Maple Walnut/Pecan Scones
from $30.00

Maple syrup season is that moment in early spring when the grounds are still covered in snow, but the sun starts to strengthen, and the flowers awaken from their winter slumber. The days are longer, and ground is soggy, and the smell of cooking sap floods the air.

It’s quite a lovey time in New England, and getting to a local sugar shack to get freshly made maple syrup makes the long winter not seem so terrible. As our children grew up in the New England skiing circuit, we would always stop at some Mom and Pop sugar shack along the side of the back roads of New Hampshire, Vermont, or Maine and get a gallon of the good, dark, flavorful deep amber liquid gold.

These fluffy Maple Walnut or Pecan Scones, made with local New England maple syrup and dotted with chopped walnuts or pecans, then slathered in a thick maple glaze that tastes like melted maple candy, are pure New England scrumptiousness.

Choose either walnuts or pecans - both are equally delicious!

Available year round.

Makes 24 scones.

Allergens: milk, wheat, eggs, nut (walnuts)

Available for pickup or delivery only.

Somewhere along the way, maple became a Fall flavor… that is a trend thingee, because we New Englanders know maple is a Spring harvest thingee. Regardless, it’s a year-round delight, so go ahead and play on that maple as a trendy Fall flavor!

Asian Pear Scones **

Sometimes a passing thought becomes a delicious recipe! This is my own recipe, which is a riff off the Asian Pear Cake I make. See those hunks of fruit? Those are Asian Pears from our orchard, and these Asian Pear scones are deliciously spiced with warm Fall spices and a hint of citrus.

An Asian Pear is one of those unsung hero fruits not too many people know about. It looks like an apple, crunches like an apple, but tastes like a pear. This fruit is not a hybrid, but a varietal that has been grown for close to 3,000 years in Asia, and oddly grows quite well here in Northern New England.

Harvested from our property in the early-mid Fall, these delicious pears keep their delightful crunch when baked. With the combination of warm spices, you’ll be cozying up with a cup of coffee or tea and watching the foliage turn. I couldn’t resist putting one against the backdrop of the stunning foliage that was coming to a peak!

I challenge you to eat just one. No one I’ve known has pulled this off. They’re so good, you go back in for second breakfast and elevensies (if you’re a Hobbit).

These scones are available from Fall-early winter, as long as the pears hold their crunch.

Makes 16 smaller scones.

Allergens: wheat, milk, eggs

Available for nationwide shipping, pickup, or delivery.

The Mac Daddy**
$42.00

I found this recipe around Father’s Day and it seemed like a cookie my Daddy would like; therefore, it must be called the Mac Daddy.

But my Dad isn’t Mac. He’s Alan. It just sounded weird to called it the Alan Daddy cookie. Sorry, bad baker humor.

This Boozy Bake (so 21+ only, please) is made with browned butter, stuffed with toasted buttered pecans, loads of chocolate, a kick of Kentucky bourbon, and topped with a hint of sea salt. And if that’s not enough - because it never is - the pièce de résistance is that this delight is topped with a pecan soaked in Kentucky bourbon!

These Mac Daddy cookies are a flavor bomb in your mouth…sit fireside with a highball of bourbon and nibble on this delight, or plop some butter pecan ice cream between 2 cookies and make one of the most dee-vine ice cream sandwiches you’ve ever had! Or put some butter pecan ice cream (or whatever flavor your wee heart desires) in a bowl, put one (or 3) of these cookies in with it, and drizzle bourbon caramel sauce over. You should be drooling by now.

I think maybe I should’ve called myself the Boozy Baker…

Fall is, by far, my favorite season, and apples are, indeed, my favorite Fall flavor. Apples cross the bridge between late summer days when it’s still fairly warm, and the early Fall days where the air starts to become crisper, but pumpkin season hasn’t yet come into full roar.

Having a perfectly creamy caramel texture that is melded with the flavor of fresh apple cider, these velvety caramels will last weeks in an airtight bag/container so you can enjoy them little by little!

Creamy Sea Salted Apple Cider Caramels...need I say more?!

While these seem to be more delicious in the Fall because that’s when apples are in peak season, these caramels are available year round.

In New England, we have a multitude of versions of every season before the weather actually plays the real part of the season.

For example: Winter. Early Spring. Polar Vortex. Fool’s Spring. Second Winter. Actual Spring. And that’s typically around May.

My solution is to bake comfort, like Ginger Molasses Cookies.
